Creative Europe Programme 2021-2027
On 26 May 2021, the European Commission officially launched the new Creative Europe programme for the period 2021-2027. The programme has a budget of €2.4 billion. The programme will help Europe's cultural and creative industries sectors unlock their potential, recover from the crisis and become more competitive, sustainable, digital and inclusive.
Directions of support
International co-production, cooperation and promotion of European works. Enhanced support for the sectors of architecture, literature, music and cultural heritage through higher levels of EU co-financing and specific calls. Special support programmes for the new media sector and media literacy. In all competitions, special attention will be paid to the observance of gender equality and EU environmental policy.
Support for international cooperation in all areas of art and creative industries
Translation of literary works and development of publishing partnerships
EU prizes in literature, music, architecture and cultural heritage, as well as European Capital of Culture awards and European Heritage Label initiatives
Enhancing the accessibility and visibility of European audiovisual works in different countries
Creative Innovation Lab — encouraging innovative approaches to creation, distribution and promotion in different sectors
Strengthening media literacy, pluralism and freedom as European values
Supporting international mobility of artists through the i-Portunus programme
The purpose of the program
- Protection, development and promotion of European cultural and linguistic diversity and heritage
- Increasing the competitiveness and economic potential of the cultural and creative industries (CCI) sectors, in particular the audiovisual sector.
Goals of the program
- strengthening artistic and cultural cooperation at the European level; supporting the creation of European works and creations; strengthening the economic, social and international dimension of European CCIs; promoting innovation and mobility;
- encouraging cooperation between organisations in the areas of innovation, sustainability and competitiveness;
- supporting cross-sectoral innovation and cooperation activities as well as a diverse, independent and multinational media environment/media literacy, thereby supporting freedom of artistic expression, intercultural dialogue and social inclusion.
Subprogrammes of Creative Europe
The Programme consists of three subprogrammes:
- “Culture”: covers all sectors of cultural and creative industries (except for the audiovisual sector and cinema)
- “Media”: supports the film and audiovisual sector
- “Intersectoral cooperation”: promotes cooperation between different cultural and creative sectors and also covers the area of news media.

The total budget of Creative Europe (2021-2027) is €2.44 billion, which will be distributed as follows:
- “Culture” — 33%
“Media” — 58%
“Cross-sectoral cooperation” — 9%

How to get a grant? 10 steps
Step 1. Check if you work in one of the program areas
Step 2. Check open grant competitions on the FToP website
Step 3. Find foreign partners and form a consortium
Step 4. Read the Instructions for applicants for the competition
Step 5. Register as a user on the FToP website
Step 6. Fill in and send the project application in English
Step 7. Wait for the announcement of the results of the grant competition
Step 8. Sign the Agreement with the European Commission and receive the first grant payment
Step 9. Submit a report on the use of grant funds
Step 10. Get comprehensive information about the results of the program and competitions
